At what point do ideologies stop becoming marketing trends?
The irony behind companies using ‘Anti-VDay’ marketing on a consumeristic holiday to sell and push their products probably gets lost under all the heart-printed cutesy packaging.
We’re not meaning to be cynical cause who doesn’t love a physical expression of love?
But, when ideologies become trends and brands try to jump on these bandwagons, it is undeniably gimmicky, cause at the end of the day it is still a brand that thrives off of the consumeristic holiday.
We’re just brainstorming here… but maybe brands would seem more authentic if they didn’t try to performatively align with ideologies that go against their own business models just to come off as relatable and aware… maybe?
